Markirk Construction, Inc.
Building has been a family tradition with the Jones family since the early 1950's when Kirk's father started a residential construction company. After graduating from college in 1970, Kirk joined his father's construction business. In 1985 Kirk and Marilyn Jones, after years of "hands on" experience, started their own building and developing business in Blue Springs. The business now includes the couple's two sons, Kyle and Kevin.
Kirk is a member of the Kansas City Home Builder's Association and the Eastern Jackson County Builder's Association. He is also past president of the Blue Springs Chamber of Commerce. Kirk wears many hats as manager, developer, supervisor and builder. He believes that being involved and experienced in all phases of building and development, as well as in the community, set MarKirk apart in the industry.
Marilyn makes selections for the homes, such as paint colors, carpet and tile. She also helps out in the office. Marilyn's involvement in the community included 14 years of service on the Blue Springs Board of Education and past president of the St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary.
After graduating from Washburn University, working in the corporate world for five years, and obtaining a MBA from Rockhurst University, Kyle decided to join the family business in 2002. He runs the office, schedules sub-contractors, and supervises job sites. Kyle recently participated in the Blue Springs Leadership course sponsored by the Blue Springs Chamber of Commerce. Kyle and his wife, Karis, have a son, Kyler.
Kevin, after attending college for two years started working for the company in 1996. His responsibilities include management and supervision of all excavating and flat work, in addition to checking job sites. Kevin is married to Katie who works at Sprint.
MarKirk Construction, Inc. has developed several subdivisions including: Edgewood, Vesper Vale, StoneCreek and Old Mill in Blue Springs and Stone Creek in Pleasant Hill. Prices of the homes range from starter homes to custom homes over a million dollars. No matter what price range, quality is important to MarKirk. Quality control from the beginning, with the excavation to the finish process, is paramount. In house employees such as excavators, trim carpenters, concrete finishers, debris removers, and painters help maintain quality control.
One of the best testimonials for a builder is repeat customers. MarKirk has several homeowners for whom they have built more than one house. And, just like MarKirk is a third generation family business MarKirk builds for generations of families. Maintaining a good rapport with homeowners is important to MarKirk.
